Want. Want. Want.
Yeah, yeah it has to be red. Whatever. That car is gorgeous.

Remind me: does it have a salvaged title?

This car raises a lot of ire... but it looks like fun.
And it's saving grace is just that... that it was saved from a wreck, not modified from a pristine original.
Black is mean, that is certain, but I kind of wish they had done some other alternative to red. Alloy silver, blue, green, burnt orange, or something... Black is something other than Rosso Corsa, that is true, but black is kind of an easy go-to choice, as well.
![]() 01/07/2014 at 14:21 |

No. It had a clear title when they bought it
![]() 01/07/2014 at 14:22 |

I'm guessing for a million dollar car they played it "safe" with black. haha
![]() 01/07/2014 at 14:22 |

Not according to the link above. It was in an accident, it was totaled.

I would expect more than camera phone images from the Barrett-Jackson page. The engine shot is blurry. No new wallpaper for me.

If it doesn't, then its just one of those magical "was completely undriveable, but is now completely repaired, but somehow not a technical salvage" titles.
Even Ferrari doesn't repair their own cars past a certain point. So why would you want to buy one that some shop did?
![]() 01/07/2014 at 14:25 |

Believe this would now fall under the rebuilt title category as they did have this thing re-certified by Ferrari.

buuuuuu!

You can have an undriveable car that isn't a salvage title. I imagine it happens every day.
The options were to scrap it or rebuild it. I prefer the latter.

"airbags did not deploy."
Jesus, that writeup reads worse than a CL ad.

Looks so evil in black.
![]() 01/07/2014 at 14:30 |

With black you can see every imperfection with the body. I wonder if they chose the black to sort-of show of the workmanship. Show that it's straight with very little, if any, flaws body wise.

Or turn it into art....

Im ready haters.
I like F40's waaaaaaaaayyyyyyy better in anything but red.

I would buy it, put on the original wheels, and paint it blu pozzi.

Still haven't seen that episode, so I'm not sure exactly how much they 'bastardized' it.... Still looks mighty good from where I'm sitting, though!
![]() 01/07/2014 at 15:01 |

Doesn't matter, the car was literally in pieces when they got it. If it didn't then, it does now. If it still doesn't, it should have. Either way, its a rebuilt F40, will be worth less. Not like I'd care...I do care about what they did to it though.

Don't make me say it.

This silliness along the door?
The upside is that I'd have no qualms about repainting it and hooning the wheels off. It's already been smacked up beyond recognition once, so this wouldn't exactly be an investment purchase. It'd be a hoon one.

Other than the wheels and the headlights, I'm not sure.

The Gas Monkey team took a page out of US High School education by adjusting history to suit local tastes and ways of thinking. If it weren't a pile of parts when they received it, I would say that this is a heinous act subject to capital punishment. However, given the state of this car at the time of receipt, it is a miracle that all four wheels now sit squarely on the ground.
Value? That's literally the million dollar question. Does Gas Monkey have the cache to add value to a resto-mod wreck of a Ferrari? We'll see. If it doesn't sell at Barrett Jackson, they can always turn to Craigslist where with enough time, someone will pay the asking price.

I know it's not authentic and all that, but... still want.
![]() 01/09/2014 at 09:00 |

What's not "authentic"? It is a Ferrari and was rebuilt after a wreck by a Ferrari specialist using Ferrari parts. That's like saying a '69 Camaro Z-28 Pace Car edition isn't authentic because someone put Cragar S/S rims on it.

The aftermarket headlights?
![]() 01/09/2014 at 10:52 |

It has a Ferrari VIN. It is authentic. Altered somewhat, but authentic.

The build started with a one-owner, clear Texas title F40 with 7,148 actual miles that was damaged in the left front.
........
CARFAX shows an accident reported on 08-17-2011. Vehicle damaged in multiple places, it hit a fence, severe damage reported, minor right side damage reported, vehicle towed, airbags did not deploy.
Wait, what? CARFAX says the car is severely damaged, the show showed a severely damaged car, and it begins somewhat that it only got a shunt to the left side and thats it? The hell bullshit is this?

This isn't my wife's Passat with its two big insurance claims from last year that are going to make it worth its value in scrap in a few years. In the world of higher end Ferraris, something as pedestrian as a CarFax is somewhat irrelevant. As long as numbers match and the rebuild was documented, the car will probably lose nothing in value.
